Take one of our curtains to the window and look closely. Some flowers are darker than others. A few motifs are not perfectly in line. That is not a printing mistake. It happens because a person printed the whole panel by hand, pressing a wooden block onto the cloth one stamp at a time. Every set of hand block printed curtains in our collection is made this way.
Everything is cotton. Most of the curtains have a white or off-white base, so the colours stand out properly.
The designs come from all over India. You'll see Kolam and lotus, paisley, Durga, and prints in the style of Madhubani and Jamini Roy. There are Mughal jharokas too, and even the humble paan leaf. We use natural dyes, and we work with traditional artisans on fair-trade terms.
On price, a single printed panel is ₹1,300. Plain cotton solids are ₹1,500. Premium prints like Madhubani or Ikat cost ₹2,200. Doing up a whole room? Our combo of four curtains is ₹6,000, with solids and prints mixed together, like yellow with Kolam or green with Alpona.
Don't expect them to make a room dark. Cotton block print curtains let the light in but take the sharpness out of it. Think of a hot afternoon in Delhi or Chennai, when the sun comes straight through the window. These curtains soften it, so the room is still bright but easier on the eyes.
Need total darkness for sleeping? Add a plain blackout lining behind.
We like them in living rooms, kitchens, and that one chair by the window where you read. Keep the walls simple if the print is bold. If your sofa already has printed cushions, choose a combo set with a plain curtain in it. Otherwise, the room starts to feel crowded.
Natural colours are a bit delicate, so wash them gently. Cold water, a mild detergent, no bleach. Dry them in the shade, not in full sun, or the colour will slowly fade. A quick iron on the back side and they look crisp again.
Measure how wide your window is and double that number. That's roughly how much curtain you need for a nice gathered look when it's closed. If our standard sizes don't fit, just ask. We make custom sizes and designs as well.
Factory curtains all start to look the same after a while. Block print curtains don't. Have a look at our full range of hand block printed curtains and find the print that feels right for your home.
