  • About Me I am a retired educator who's taking classes at Temple University. I'm specially interested in Temple's Africology/Black Studies Program. Temple University was the first university in the nation to offer a doctor in Africology/black studies and that is my objective. Dr. Molefi Kente Asante is responsible for implementing the discipline there. I am a member of the NAACP, and People's Organization for Progress, based in Newark, N.J. It's Chairman is Larry Hamm. It "is an independent, grassroots, community based politically progressive association of citizens working for racial, social, and economic justice and the greater community." I also belong to the New Jersey Association of Black Educators. I recently became the liaison to the general public for The New Jersey Amistad Commission to educate the general public about Amistad being a NJ law and the importance of it's implementation. The law was enacted in 2002 and directs all New Jersey schools to incorporate African-American history into their social studies curriculum. As far as I know it's the first program of its kind in the nation and many people in the state is unaware of it. It's my duty to change that. I have traveled to Nigeria (where I was given my African name, ( Omowale), Johannesburg, Soweto, and Cape Town South Africa, Victoria Falls, South Africa, Zambia, and Egypt and I am looking forward to traveling to other parts of the motherland. I'm happy to have this median to express myself.
