Ok sisters and brothers so I learned something new today. Did you know fiber is actually bad for us? That we are eating garbage that doesn't agree with our body?
ME EITHER!
So I looked up the definition and it says; dietary material containing substances such as cellulose, lignin, and pectin, which are resistant to the action of digestive enzymes.
WOW!
FYI:
*LIGNIN is a complex organic polymer deposited in the cell walls of many plants, making them rigid and woody. (In other words it is a number of things put together to imitate a natural product that makes it not edible.)
*PECTIN is a soluble gelatinous polysaccharide that is present in ripe fruits and is extracted for use as a setting agent in jams and jellies. (In other words its a gel like sugar that's extracted.)
*CELLULOSE is an insoluble substance that is the main constituent of plant cell walls and of vegetable fibers such as cotton. It is a polysaccharide consisting of chains of glucose monomers. (In other words it's a substance impossible to be dissolved.)
The subject came to mind because my 13 year old son decided to eat 2 family sized bags of Flaming Hots within a hour. I know you may be thinking; and where were you at as he did this...parent. well I don't have a good excuse. I was asleep. My children have been taught the healthy way to eat etc since the age of 3, possibly younger and so he has an assignment to do. SEVERAL; which is how I overcame this great information.
