When I was a kid me and my siblings didn't see many book with black children.
Me and my brother used to draw and put our pages in the books we were reading.
After his death I began to write poetry. It was years later when I got the urge to create children books. My ancestors were telling me the whole time to create, but I ignored it. I would get stuff in the mail about writing children books and I would trash it. I never inquired for that information either. It really hit me when my daughter was 11 yrs and she told me she was making books selling them to the neighborhood kids. less -
