I'm hoping someone here can help me out because I'm at my wit's end with my 2016 Mini Cooper S. Over the past few weeks it's been running really rough at idle and I've noticed a significant drop in fuel economy, plus there's this weird ticking noise coming from the engine bay that wasn't there before. I took it to a local garage in Al Quoz and they changed the spark plugs and ignition coils but the problem is still there, and honestly I feel like they were just guessing. The car has been generally reliable but I know these BMW engines can be finicky and need someone who actually understands the specific quirks rather than just treating it like any other hatchback. I've been doing some research and it seems like finding a proper Mini Cooper roadworthy repair service with mechanics who know these N18 engines inside out would be the smart move rather than continuing to throw money at random garages that don't have the right diagnostic equipment. Has anyone here had a good experience with a workshop that specializes in Minis specifically? I'm in Jumeirah so somewhere relatively close would be ideal but honestly at this point I'm willing to drive a bit further if it means getting the car properly fixed once and for all. Also curious if anyone else has dealt with similar symptoms and what ended up being the root cause, I've read some stuff about timing chain tensioners being a common issue on these but I'm not sure if that matches what I'm experiencing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
