Black Star Apparel is a Premium streetwear clothing focused on spreading Black Consciousness around the world and replacing the system of white supremacy with a system of justice.
Black Star Apparel was founded July 2015 when United States and Cuba "normalized" relations. In fear of the safety and well-being of Ex-Black Panther and Black Liberation Army member Assata Shakur who was freed from prison, and granted political asylum in Cuba, our clothing was created to bring awareness to the situation that's happening with our sister Assata and all situations that involves the injustices of black people globally and the actions we need to take to eradicate the system of white supremacy with a system of justice.
The name of our clothing Black Star is a reference to the shipping company The Black Star Line founded in 1919 by Pan-Africanist Marcus Garvey who facilitate the transportation of goods and eventually African Americans throughout the African global economy.
Black Star Apparel strive to continue the legacy of Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey, Assata Shakur, and Dr. Frances Cress-Welsing by spreading Black Consciousness around the world and replacing the system of white supremacy with a system of justice, building and supporting black businesses and institutions, and encouraging entrepreneurship and group economics in our communities.
