In sociology, we learn all religions are made up by humans, not spirits. Why can't Black Americans just make up a new religion and a new Black god based upon our history & known scientific knowledge rather than worshiping any god or following any faith that originated from any population, who has enslaved, murdered, and/or exploited Blacks any where & any time in history? How do any of you feel about ancestral worship of our Black ancestors from the 17th to the 19th centuries? By doing so, we will no longer relate to a god through any White ethnic group, serving as our intermediaries to that which we perceive as divine, thereby liberating us psychologically from a slave mentality or Stockholm's Syndrome.   less

But, why do you think that it is healthier for Blacks to worship a Black god? I have my own ideas,  but to study the relationship between the race of god and the behavior and beliefs of a group of people I need other people to express their own. My ideas are based upon the famous doll study by Kenneth & Marie Clark and my own observations and experiences. What are your reasons for concluding that it is healthier for Blacks to worship a Black god? Thank you again for answering the poll.  less
