LaVena Johnson was a nineteen year-old African American Army Private who was found dead on a military base in Iraq in 2005. The U.S. Army ruled her death a suicide, but an autopsy report revealed she had a broken nose, black eye, loose teeth, burns from a chemical on her genitals in order to hide the fact that she had been raped, and she had a gunshot wound to her head -- that seemed inconsistent with a suicide. You can view her story “The Silent Truth” in a documentary at ProtectOurDefenders.com
